Working from Duplicates
Before getting into any further details on how to handle the different post types in use at this site, one thing to keep in mind is that it will often be easiest and most efficient to proceed from a duplicate of something you like. If you’re adding a new post, for example, you can easily make a draft copy of an existing post. Choose one that in format and content is as close to the one you want to create and then:
- In the post type archive (Posts, Pages, Biographies, Events), hover over the title of the copiable post, and click “Duplicate [Post Type]”.
- A new Post, Page, etc., will be created with the same title as original, but with the word “Copy,” and the post itself will have a “draft status.”
- Using the Block Editor or Elementor make whatever changes you want.
- Click Publish
- Review the results to make sure they’re what you expected.
If something is wrong and you’re not sure how to fix it, you can return to the post or open it in “Quick Edit” and switch the status back to “draft.”
