ABOUT

Our primary Mission is to shed light on a significant, yet forgotten, chapter in American history—the events surrounding the battle that devastated Elizabeth Town and Connecticut Farms (now Union), and Springfield New Jersey in 1780.

We believe that telling these stories not only honors those who lived them but also enriches the cultural tapestry of New Jersey. Our initiative aims to promote historical tourism through a Historical State Trail marked by large interpretive kiosks and satellite signs. A network of classroom educational programs continue to bring this story catered to schools from 4th grade up. Furthermore for America’s 250th we are continuing to develop an interactive story map on our new website, which will also house archival information and make our interesting state history accessible to all.

Our organization is dedicated to enriching public education across Union, Morris, Somerset, and Hunterdon Counties by preserving historic landmarks, hosting speaker sessions, and advancing programs that honor New Jersey’s Forgotten Victory—a cornerstone moment in the foundation of our nation.

We are proud to announce the first historic installation of Forgotten Victory’s new State Trail at Taylor Park in Millburn.

Later this year, the second marker will be unveiled at the historic Bonnell Tavern, revealing a powerful and long-overlooked chapter of our shared Revolutionary past.

Crossroads of the American Revolution is working with us to ensure a perfect sign will be installed.

Our Mission involves several urgent projects, including:

Creating and Installing Educational Signage

We are in the process of developing and installing informational signage along a historic trail that spans across Union, Morris, and Hunterdon Counties. This initiative is crucial for educating the public about the historical significance of the trail and promoting community engagement.

Preparing for the 250th Anniversary of America

As part of our efforts to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, we aim to enhance our interwoven trail to create a significant historical experience for visitors. This effort will include our highly successful grammar school education program, which has a proven track record of engaging young students with American history through interactive and hands-on learning. By integrating this program into the 250th anniversary events, we hope to further enrich the historical journey for students and the public alike, fostering a deeper appreciation of our nation's heritage.

Developing an Interactive Online Map and archive

We are also working on an interactive digital map experience and a historical archive, which will serve as a valuable online resource for the public, facilitating greater access to historical information and promoting collaboration among historical organizations throughout the state.

Our priorities encompass both the enhancement of our educational initiative and with a nonprofit status it will include historic preservation. We already have an established educational system, and we aim to expand it further to engage children and communities in our rich history through speaking events and interactive learning experiences. The funds we raise will help us secure additional historic preservation resources for sites in need, as well as create and distribute promotional maps and booklets. These materials will support ‘history hunts’ for families and tourists, driving business to local towns while deepening appreciation for our shared heritage.
