The Table of Contents widget that appears in Biographies and History Posts is based on an Elementor widget.
All H2 and H3 headings in the post will be automatically added to the content list.
H2 is the default when you add a heading whether in the Block Editor or in Elementor. Therefore, to have sections from you post appear in the Contents list, you won’t need to do anything special when you simply add headings to your post content.
As a rule, you’ll want to add at least one heading to a given Biography or History Post. You can:
- Add a Heading element in the Block Editor
- Add a Heading element in Elementor
- Using a Text Editor element in Elementor, style a given line as an H2 or H3.
The last option may come into play if you are using Elementor on a given post, and have pasted a significant amount of text into a Text Editor element. This is often a timesaver. However, if you are using copy-paste, you can also often just paste formatted text into the Block Editor, and it will be automatically converted into appropriate blocks.
